Shipston Home Nursing is a remarkable hospice-at-home charity, providing palliative and end of life care for people with terminal illnesses who wish to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.
Their dedicated nurses and healthcare assistants support patients and families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This care is provided completely free of charge.
Delivering this vital service costs around £700,000 each year, yet only around 6% is covered by government funding. The reality is simple. Without fundraising and the backing of the local community, Shipston Home Nursing could not continue to care for people at one of the most important moments of their lives.
One of the charity’s most inspiring fundraising initiatives began in 2021, when volunteer Lindsey Yarrow launched a small plant sale in the garden of Ettington Garden Café. What started as a modest idea has grown year on year. In 2025 alone, the plant sale raised an incredible £14,465 for Shipston Home Nursing.
Behind the scenes, Lindsey, Pat and a committed group of volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year. They nurture, price, organise and sell plants, transforming a simple stall into one of the charity’s most successful fundraising activities.
We are proud to support this effort through our ongoing partnership, regularly donating both indoor and outdoor plants to help broaden the range on offer.
“Donating plants that we can’t grow ourselves has really helped us to offer variety,” says Lindsey. “We just can’t grow things like palms and ferns and they proved very popular at the Shipston Home Nursing Christmas Fair.”
For us, this support is about more than plants. It is about backing a charity that delivers real, human impact every single day.
Charlie Cox, CEO of Natural Green Creative Spaces, adds: “Shipston Home Nursing does extraordinary work for people and families when they need it most. Supporting the Ettington plant sale is a small but meaningful way for us to give back locally, using what we know and what we do best. Seeing the difference this fundraiser makes, year after year, is incredibly motivating for our whole team.”
The Ettington plant sale is now one of Shipston Home Nursing’s largest fundraisers. The charity is always grateful for regular plant donations and welcomes volunteer support to help keep it thriving.
On behalf of everyone at Natural Green Creative Spaces, we are proud to play a small part in helping something so important continue to grow.
