The Senior Account Manager is responsible for managing NGCS’s most significant, complex and commercially important client relationships.
The role provides senior-level ownership of key accounts, major projects and strategic opportunities. It combines account leadership, project oversight, revenue growth, new business development and the coaching and development of colleagues.
The Senior Account Manager will build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, identify longer-term opportunities and ensure NGCS is positioned as a proactive creative and delivery partner rather than simply a supplier.
The role will also help improve commercial discipline, project planning, account processes and cross-functional working across the business.
Typical Experience
Six or more years’ relevant account, project, event or commercial management experience
Significant experience managing complex, high-value or high-profile accounts
A strong record of client retention and revenue growth
Evidence of securing substantial upselling, cross-selling and new business opportunities
Experience leading major accounts involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
Experience coaching, mentoring or managing less experienced colleagues
Strong commercial understanding, including revenue, gross margin and risk
Equivalent transferable experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
- Lead NGCS’s most strategically important client accounts
- Build strong relationships with senior client decision-makers
- Develop annual or multi-year account plans for key clients
- Understand clients’ wider business strategies, event calendars, procurement requirements and growth plans
- Position NGCS as a valued strategic and creative partner
- Lead regular strategic account reviews and commercial planning discussions
- Protect client relationships during complex, sensitive or high-pressure situations
- Identify risks to client retention and implement appropriate action plans
Major Account and Event Oversight
Lead or oversee complex, high-value and business-critical projects
Ensure project scope, responsibilities, budgets and commercial terms are clear
Provide senior judgement and direction on delivery risks and client challenges
Coordinate effectively with the Greenhouse, Build, Design, Logistics, Finance and leadership teams
Support Account Managers with problem-solving and escalation
Oversee onsite delivery for key events where senior representation is required
Ensure quality, safety, financial performance and client expectations are appropriately balanced
Lead detailed post-event and account reviews
Revenue Growth and New Business
Take responsibility for revenue growth and gross margin across allocated accounts
Develop structured pipelines for upselling and cross-selling
Identify opportunities for preferred supplier arrangements, retained partnerships and multi-event agreements
Expand NGCS relationships into new client departments, venues, events and geographic locations
Lead high-value quotations, proposals, tenders and presentations
Generate and convert new business opportunities through networks, referrals and market knowledge
Represent NGCS at industry events, exhibitions and client meetings
Support the CEO in developing priority markets and strategic partnerships
Contribute to pricing, proposition development and commercial strategy
Commercial and Financial Leadership
Ensure accounts and projects meet agreed revenue and margin expectations
Review commercial terms, account pricing and delivery models
Challenge underpriced, unprofitable or high-risk work
Ensure scope changes and additional requirements are commercially managed
Support forecasting and pipeline reporting
Review account and project profitability and identify corrective actions
Work with Finance to improve invoicing accuracy, purchase order management and cash collection
Contribute to annual revenue planning and target setting
Team Leadership and Development
Coach and mentor Junior Account Managers and Account Managers
Support the allocation of accounts and projects across the team
Help colleagues develop client, commercial and account management capability
Provide constructive feedback and support performance development
Promote collaboration, accountability and high standards
Share knowledge, contacts and commercial opportunities across the business
Process and Business Improvement
Lead improvements to account management, project management and commercial processes
Help develop consistent account planning and project review practices
Improve the quality of management information, forecasting and pipeline visibility
Identify operational bottlenecks and work with colleagues to develop solutions
Support the implementation and adoption of new business systems
Contribute to wider leadership discussions and business planning
Health, Safety and Compliance
Provide visible leadership on health and safety
Ensure complex projects have appropriate risk management and documentation
Challenge unsafe or non-compliant practices
Support Account Managers in understanding venue, client and regulatory requirements

Essential Requirements
Significant experience in senior account, project, event or commercial management
Proven record of managing and growing major client accounts
Evidence of securing new business, upselling and cross-selling
Experience leading high-value, complex or high-profile projects
Strong financial and commercial management capability
Experience coaching, mentoring or managing team members
Full, clean driving licence
Willingness to travel nationally and work early mornings, evenings, weekends and occasional overnight stays
Desirable Requirements
Extensive experience within events, exhibitions, venues, hospitality, sport or experiential environments
Established industry relationships and networks
Experience negotiating retained contracts, preferred supplier agreements or multi-year partnerships
Knowledge of horticulture, planting, florals, creative builds or temporary event infrastructure
Experience contributing to leadership-level business planning
