Account Manager

The Account Manager takes end-to-end responsibility for a portfolio of existing and new client accounts, managing multiple projects and events simultaneously.

The role combines client relationship management, project delivery and commercial growth. The Account Manager will establish client requirements, agree key deliverables, manage budgets and communication, coordinate internal and external resources, and ensure NGCS standards are achieved from initial brief through to onsite fulfilment and post- project analysis.

The Account Manager is responsible for developing the commercial potential of allocated accounts. This includes retaining clients, increasing account value, promoting the wider NGCS offer, securing repeat work and identifying appropriate new business opportunities.

Typical Experience

Three to six years’ relevant project, account or event management experience

Proven experience managing accounts or events from initial brief to completion

Experience managing multiple clients, budgets and deadlines simultaneously

A track record of developing strong client relationships

Evidence of generating repeat business, upselling or cross-selling

Experience working with recognised or high-profile brands

Equivalent transferable experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Account and Client Management

Manage a portfolio of client projects and act as the main point of contact

Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s priorities, brand, calendar and commercial needs

Build trusted relationships with clients and relevant stakeholders

Maintain proactive communication throughout each project

Manage client expectations and respond constructively to changing requirements

Lead regular client reviews and post- project conversations

Develop account plans for priority clients, including retention and growth opportunities

Account and Event Delivery

Manage projects and events from initial enquiry through to completion

Attend sites, oversee installations and provide onsite client management

Establish project scope, deliverables, budget, schedule and responsibilities

Translate client briefs into clear internal requirements

Coordinate external suppliers and partners where required

Identify and resolve project risks, issues and delivery challenges

Ensure project are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the agreed standard

Complete post-event analysis, including financial performance and lessons learned

Commercial Growth

Take responsibility for retention and organic growth within allocated accounts

Identify and convert upselling and cross-selling opportunities

Introduce clients to relevant NGCS services, including planting, florals, creative builds, containers, living walls, bars, seating and hospitality solutions

Identify upcoming events, venues, spaces and project where NGCS could add value

Prepare commercially sound quotations, proposals and presentations

Follow up enquiries and proposals in a timely and professional way

Generate referrals, introductions and new opportunities through existing relationships

Support wider new business pitches, exhibitions and networking activity

Contribute ideas for new services, products and income streams

Financial Management

Develop and manage project budgets and quotations

Protect agreed margin and identify any potential cost overruns

Ensure project changes are documented, priced and approved

Manage the raising, allocation and reconciliation of purchase orders

Work closely with the Finance Manager and Office Manager to support accurate invoicing

Review project profitability and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance

Support timely payment by ensuring client and financial documentation is complete

Process and Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the development of more efficient project and project t management processes

Maintain accurate project, account and sales information

Share learning across the team

Identify recurring delivery issues and recommend practical improvements

Support the implementation of systems that improve visibility, coordination and output

Health, Safety and Compliance

Ensure projects are managed in accordance with NGCS health and safety requirements

Understand and comply with relevant event, venue and site rules

Ensure appropriate documentation, risk assessments and method statements are in place

Work closely with internal teams and external partners to address identified risks

Promote safe working practices onsite and within the wider business

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as an Account Manager, Project Manager, Event Manager or similar

Experience managing projects from brief through to onsite delivery

Experience managing client relationships and multiple stakeholders

Evidence of achieving account growth, repeat business, upselling or cross-selling

Experience managing budgets and protecting project profitability

Strong written, verbal and presentation skills

Full, clean driving licence

Willingness to travel nationally and work early mornings, evenings, weekends and occasional overnight stays

Desirable Requirements

Experience within events, exhibitions, venues, hospitality, sport or experiential environments

Experience working with high-profile brands

Knowledge or appreciation of horticulture, planting, florals, creative builds or temporary event infrastructure

Experience using CRM, project management or stock management systems

Client retention and satisfaction

Revenue and gross margin from allocated project

Projects delivered on time, within budget and to the required standard

Accuracy of forecasting, project records and financial administration

Location and travel

The role will be based at NGCS’s Warwickshire headquarters, however travel to events will be required, along with client meetings, venues, exhibitions, and site visits and should opportunities arise international travel

A full UK driving licence is required.
